LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Athletic Department announced that the Track and Field program will sponsor Indoor Track and Field, beginning this upcoming Winter.
The 2025-26 indoor Track and Field season is set to begin in December and will run through February with the GSC Championships slated to begin in late February.
"I am very excited and thankful for this opportunity that President Fritch and Athletic Director Gilliland have decided to provide our student athletes," said head coach Sterling Martin.
This past Spring, West Alabama's program took a leap with Balikis Yakubu, Augusta Arnold, and Brayden Harris all winning GSC Championships in the Spring Season. On top of that, Arnold, Mercy Lomuria, and Dedric Hicks all set new school records across various events.Â
With the trajectory of the program heading in the right direction, the installation of the Indoor season will only expedite the Tigers' efforts.
"This opportunity to race during the indoor season will accelerate the development of our programs at the conference and national level," Sterling concluded.
