No. 13 Tigers Ready for Road Test Against Trailblazers

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Football team takes their No. 13 ranking on the road for an 11:00 a.m. CST matchup against the North Greenville Trailblazers on Saturday.

No. 13 West Alabama (4-0) enters Saturday's contest after a 52-14 win over Barton College while North Greenville (1-2) comes in after suffering a 25-17 loss to No. 3 West Florida last weekend.

When talking about UWA's offense, the first name that pops in your head is Spencer Arceneaux. Arceneaux has accumulated 14 total touchdowns and 1,118 total yards in four games. The senior has led the Tigers to 36.3 points and 425.3 yards per game as he's been responsible for 86 of UWA's 145 points this season which ranks fourth in the country.

The Quarterback continues to gain chemistry with his receivers as TD Parker enters this weekend after a four-catch, 96 yard, and two touchdown performance last weekend. Alongside Parker, Houston Johnson and Tyrek Williams also caught touchdowns against Barton College. The receiver corp will look to bring their momentum to Tigerville on Saturday.

West Alabama's running back room is banged up as Brayden Jenkins and Tyler Smith both missed their second consecutive game this past weekend. Although they're dealing with injuries, UWA still possesses a strong rushing attack with Contravious Blanks and Michael Dijuon leading the way. If Jenkins and Smith are inactive on Saturday, Blanks will most likely be the lead back. Dijuon will also get a healthy workload as he's the reigning GSC Freshman of the Week after a 95 yard rushing performance against the Bulldogs last weekend.

Defensively, West Alabama is holding their opponents to 20.75 points and 333 yards per game. After a nine-tackle performance last weekend to follow his 17-tackle performance against Charleston, JT Hooten continues to be the Tigers' team leader in tackles with 33 on the year. Devin Arrington, Lake Gurley, Michael McGregor, and Kentonio Kelly will be active on Saturday alongside Hooten in the Linebacker room.

In the secondary, Issac Williams may make his return and will be alongside Jaden Taylor. At corner, Devonte Harris leads the team in interceptions after catching his second this past weekend. North Greenville is a pass first team and will present the stiffest test to West Alabama's secondary this season.

Through the first three games, North Greenville's offense is averaging 22.3 points and 348.0 yards per game. The Trailblazers are led by their veteran Quarterback, Dylan Ramirez. Ramirez has been NGU's starter for the past four seasons, recording 51 career touchdowns and 7,697 passing yards through 33 career games. In 2025, the senior is off to another solid start as he brings a stat line of six touchdowns passes, 765 passing yards, and 67 percent completion percentage into Saturday's game.

Ramirez's favorite targets this year has been  Eric Rasheed and Landon Goodwin. Rasheed currently leads the Trailblazers with 156 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns while Goodwin ranks atop North Greenville's receiving corps with 11 catches.

NGU's rushing attack has been up and down to begin the year with Reggion Bennett being the lead back with 50 carries and 225 yards.

Defensively for North Greenville, the Trailblazers are allowing 31.3 points and 380.3 yards per game. NGU allowed 41 points to Delta State in their season opener but has played a lot better across the last two weeks against Barton College and West Florida.

Ty Cade and Brooks Russ-Martin are two of North Greenville's best players on that side of the ball. Cade is 6'1" 220 LB Linebacker who leads the Trailblazers with 22 tackles and one interception. Russ-Martin is right behind him with 20 tackles, one interception, and three pass breakups.

NGU has forced five turnovers through three games, but has only registered one sack. They will need to find creative ways to get pressure on UWA's Arceneaux if they want to slow down the three-time reigning GSC Player of the Week.

Kickoff for Saturday's game is set for 11:00 a.m. CST from Younts Stadium in Tigerville, South Carolina.
