LIVINGSTON, Ala. - With the Softball season beginning next week, the University of West Alabama Softball's Ann Marie Stanbridge was named Preseason All-GSC while Sha'Keria Washington was named to the GSC Newcomer's Watchlist on Thursday. 

Along with the acknowledgements for Stanbridge and Washington, West Alabama was picked fifth in the Preseason Poll.

Stanbridge has been a staple in UWA's lineup since she arrived on campus in 2023. The First Baseman has hit over .300 in all three seasons with the Tigers, and comes into the 2026 season after putting together a stat line of .309 batting average, three Home Runs, and 38 RBIs. For her career, the senior carries a .329 batting average, 40 Home Runs, and 159 RBIs. Stanbridge's RBI total is the second most in school history and is just 25 RBIs away from tying the school record, which is held by Kelli Hartley who played from 2008-2011.

While Stanbridge is known for her pop at the plate, the senior will most likely see action inside the circle as well. In her career, Stanbridge has made 21 appearances as a pitcher, accumulating 66 innings.

As for Washington, she joined the Tigers this past offseason after an impressive career at Enterprise CC. In two seasons with Enterprise CC, Washington hit well over .300 along with 11 Home Runs and 54 RBIs. The Catcher hit .556, three Home Runs, and 14 RBIs as a True Freshman in limited action in 2024, before being thrusted into a starting role in 2025. As the starting Catcher, Washington accumulated a .312 batting average and blasted eight Home Runs along with 40 RBIs. 

Stanbridge and Washington will be key cogs to UWA's lineup this season as the Tigers look to build off a 30-19 campaign a year ago.
