LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama baseball continued its historic start to the 2026 season Tuesday night, overpowering Tuskegee University, 21–1, at Tartt Field to improve to 7–0 on the year.
The Tigers used a nine-run second inning to break the game wide open and never looked back, piling up 21 runs on 13 hits while holding Tuskegee to just two hits on the night.
UWA struck first in the opening frame when Nick Wilson singled to center field to bring home Hudson Walburn for a 1–0 lead. The Tigers then exploded in the second inning, capitalizing on timely hitting and Tuskegee miscues.
Diego Bryant ignited the rally with a walk and stolen base before Rashad Robinson delivered an RBI single to make it 3–0. Walburn later reached on an error that allowed two more runs to score, and Wilson followed with an RBI double. Wayne Wilkerson added a two-run homer to left, and Tanner Jones capped the inning with a two-run double to center as West Alabama surged ahead 10–0.
The Tigers tacked on another run in the third when Walburn singled home Robinson, stretching the lead to 11–0.
In the fourth, UWA continued to apply pressure. Peyton Moss singled in a run, Jack Buening drew an RBI walk, and Wilson added another bases-loaded walk to push the advantage to 14–0.
Tuskegee's lone run came in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Ryan Morrow, but West Alabama quickly answered. Bryant doubled home a run in the bottom half, and Moss delivered a two-run double to extend the margin to 17–1.
Moss put the finishing touches on the dominant performance in the eighth, blasting a grand slam to cap a four-run inning and give the Tigers a 21–1 lead.
Moss led the way offensively, going 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, and seven RBIs. Bryant finished 3-for-5 with four runs scored and two stolen bases, while Wilson added two hits and three RBIs. Robinson swiped two bases and scored twice, and Wilkerson chipped in a two-run homer.
On the mound, Luke Clanahan (1–0) earned the win, tossing three scoreless innings with three strikeouts to start a combined two-hit effort from the Tigers' pitching staff. Beau Bryant, Matthew Sheffield, Brodey Walker, Bryant Akridge, Camden Diamond, and Camden Lyke each contributed scoreless or limited relief appearances as UWA struck out 13 Golden Tigers.
West Alabama's offense also showcased patience at the plate, drawing 13 walks and taking advantage of hit-by-pitches and defensive errors to keep innings alive.
With the victory, the Tigers remain unbeaten at 7–0 and continue to build momentum during their best start in program history. UWA will look to carry that confidence into their first Gulf South Conference contest of the season this Friday, February 13th at 5 PM against Mississippi College.
