Historic Start Continues as Tigers Cruise Past Jaguars to Close UWA Invitational

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama baseball capped off a dominant weekend at the UWA Invitational in emphatic fashion on Sunday afternoon, overpowering Augusta University, 15–1, at Tartt Field. With the win, the Tigers improved to 6–0 on the season, marking the first 6–0 start in program history.

The Tigers wasted little time getting on the board, manufacturing a run in the bottom of the first inning as Rashad Robinson crossed the plate on an RBI groundout from Hayes Alford to give UWA an early 1–0 lead.

After a quiet second inning, West Alabama broke the game wide open in the third, erupting for nine runs to seize complete control. The inning featured patience at the plate and timely power, highlighted by Nick Wilson's grand slam to left field, which pushed the Tigers' lead to double digits. UWA sent 14 batters to the plate in the frame, capitalizing on walks and clutch hitting to build a commanding 10–0 advantage.

The offensive onslaught continued in the fourth as the Tigers plated five more runs. Robinson delivered an RBI single, Aaron Wallace drove in two on a fielder's choice, and Wilson and Kaiden Jones added RBI contributions to extend the margin to 15–0.

On the mound, Thomas Kerby was dominant, earning the win to move to 2–0 on the season. The left-hander tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out three. Owen Hendry followed with a clean sixth inning, and Connor Gunnison closed the game, allowing Augusta's lone run on a solo homer in the seventh.

Offensively, Wilson led the way with a monster performance, going 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs. Robinson finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored, and a stolen base, while Hudson Walburn added three runs and two hits. Kyle Blevins chipped in a double, a walk, and an RBI, and Layth Holiday recorded a pair of hits and drove in a run.

West Alabama finished the game with 13 hits, seven walks, and flawless defense, committing no errors over seven innings.

With the convincing victory, the Tigers closed the UWA Invitational unbeaten and will carry both momentum and a historic start into the next stretch of the 2026 season.
