LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Football program announced the hiring of Kaleb Johnson as the Program's new Offensive Line Coach on Wednesday.
Johnson, a five-year professional in the NFL, joins the Tigers after serving as the University of Florida's Offensive Line - Quality Control Coach for the past three years.
Johnson worked under the tutelage of Phil Trautwein for his three years with the Gators. With Johnson on the staff, the Gators averaged 4.4 rushing yards per carry across three seasons, including 2,096 total rushing yards in 2024 that helped Florida to eight wins.
Before his time with the Gators, Johnson spent three seasons with his Alma Mater, Rutgers, serving as their Strength and Conditioning Assistant and Offensive Line Performance Liaison. Before moving into coaching, Johnson was a standout player for the Scarlett Knights on the gridiron.
Johnson was a four-year letter-winner for Rutgers from 2011-2014, making 50 consecutive starts on the offensive line. Johnson was the definition of consistent for the Scarlett Knights as he was named Second Team All-BIG EAST in 2012. As his collegiate career winded down, Johnson was named Third Team All-Big East after his senior campaign on top of being named the recipient of the Iroan Knight award which is presented to the player who has demonstrated an exceptionally high level of mental and physical toughness throughout their career.
Johnson earned his bachelor's degree in psychology in 2015 before beginning a five-year NFL career, competing with the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, and Minnesota Vikings.
Johnson is on campus and is set to coach the Tigers for Spring Ball.
