LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Football team is set for a battle against the North Greenville Trailblazers on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.

The matchup between the Tigers and Trailblazers will be streamed live on Amazon Prime Video alongside FloCollege. 

West Alabama and North Greenville have played each other nine times in the last nine years. The Trailblazers have won five of the nine matchups, but the Tigers won the latest contest. UWA defeated NGU last season in Tigerville, South Carolina, 52-44, in a shootout.

No. 18 West Alabama (3-0) enters Saturday's matchup after defeating Pittsburg State, 24-23 in their home opener. North Greenville (2-0) enters the contest after a 42-31 win over Charleston last week.

Saturday's battle will feature one of the hottest offenses in the Region against one of the hottest defenses to begin the year. Through two games, NGU is averaging 41 points on 441.5 yards per game. Through three games, UWA's defense has accumulated 13 takeaways, which leads the country, and is only allowing 21 points per game. 

West Alabama's defense is tenacious and aggressive, leading to their nation-leading 13 takeaways. Linebackers Joseph Harper, Nate Thomason, and Kebian Gilmore lead the Tigers' Linebacker group. Harper is tied for the team-lead with 17.0 total tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss. The Graduate Linebacker has forced fumbles in the last two games as he continues to transcend UWA's defense. Similar to Harper, Thomason has recorded 2.5 tackles for loss and ranks second on the team with 16.0 tackles. Gilmore recorded the first interception of his UWA career last weekend against the Gorillas and sits third on the team with 12.0 tackles.

KC Bradford, Jamil Peterson, and Legend Doggett lead the DB room. Bradford is tied for the team lead with 17.0 tackles while Peterson is responsible for three of West Alabama's takeaways this season. Doggett is a lockdown corner who leads the nation with two defensive touchdowns along with two fumble recoveries, two pass breakups, and one interception. 

Up front, Ayden Gibson has wreaked havoc for the Tigers. Gibson has recorded a team-high 4.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks along with 12.0 tackles. Anthony Oatis has constantly been in the backfield as he's recorded three QB hurries while Martavious Milan continues to be crucial as a run stopper. 

North Greenville possesses one of the most electric players in the region on their roster in redshirt freshman Quarterback, Kam Montgomery. Carrying a 6'5" 220 LB frame, Montgomery is a dual threat weapon who can create problems for defenses. Through two games, Montgomery has recorded eight total touchdowns, with six coming on the ground and two through the air. The freshman is up to 450 yards passing and 189 yards rushing on 25 attempts. Montgomery has connected on touchdown strikes to Mikhai Isaac and Jonathan Manley but UWA and Defensive Coordinator Tanner Luker must figure out a way to contain him in the running game.

While North Greenville's offense has been virtually unstoppable through two contests, their defense has allowed 416.5 yards and 34.5 points per game. The Trailblazers are allowing 291.5 passing yards per game which could be a cause for concern on Saturday with Luther Richesson and West Alabama's offense on the other side of the ball. Jeremiah Lomax and Brannon Teamer are standouts defensively for the Trailblazers. Lomax and Teamer lead the team with 17.0 tackles while Lomax was named the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week after their season opening win against Catawba. 

Offensively for the Tigers, Richesson is off to a fast start in 2026 as he was named the GSC Offensive Player of the Week for the third consecutive time on Monday. The Quarterback is up to eight total touchdowns and 852 total yards on the season. Richesson has spread the ball around but has built the most chemistry with TD Parker and Jaylon York. Parker and York lead the team with 11 receptions and 309 combined receiving yards. The Tigers' offensive line has also been stout in pass protection, allowing two sacks thus far.

No. 18 West Alabama's matchup against North Greenville is a must watch matchup that is bound to be electric. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday with tickets available for purchase on Vivenu. If you can't make it to Tiger Stadium, the game can be watched live on Prime Video or FloCollege.
