In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Michael Carter was a staple in West Alabama's lineup. As a Freshman in 1989, the Shortstop hit .381 at the top of the Tigers' order. Carter was an on-base machine and coupled that with elite speed, leading to a team-high 22 stolen bases in the 1989 season. The Shortstop scored 28 runs and drove in 16, while hitting two Home Runs. As a sophomore in 1990, Carter continued to showcase elite talent at the plate as he hit .333 on the year along with 13 Home Runs and 34 RBIs. On the base paths, he stole 22 bags, scoring 45 runs and accumulating a team-high 115 total bases. After his UWA career, Carter was ranked as the No. 62 prospect in all of baseball, leading to the Shortstop being drafted in the third round by the Milwaukee Brewers. Carter went on to win an AAA Batting Title in the midst of a 12 year career. The new West Alabama Hall of Fame Inductee finished out his professional career with a .298 career batting average in 5,309 at bats.
