Tigers Continue Road Trip at Arkansas Tech

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – After suffering its first loss of the 2009-2010 season on Monday night at No. 3 Delta State, the University of West Alabama women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 28 as UWA (2-1) continues a five-game road trip at Arkansas Tech. Tip-off is slated for 4:00 p.m.

The Tigers, who fell to the nationally ranked Lady Statesmen 75-38, were paced by Qweetta Ward. The junior guard scored nine points and pulled down six rebounds in the loss. Freshman forward Brittany Yeager, who leads UWA in scoring and rebounds on the season, recorded a career-high five blocks at DSU. Yeager, a Woodstock, Ga.-native, is averaging 12.3 points and eight rebounds per game. Yeager is tied for 21st in the GSC in scoring and is tied for eighth in rebounding.

The Golden Suns enter the contest 4-0 after a 98-68 win over Southwestern Oklahoma on Wednesday. ATU has three players ranked among the top 30 in scoring in GSC. Natalia Santos tops the Golden Suns leading scorers with 15 points per outing and tied for 11th in the conference. Jenny Vining ranks 16th while averaging 14 points while Jessica Weatherford is averaging 12.3 points per game and is tied with Yeager. Santos tops the Green and Gold rebounders with 7.3 a contest.

The Red and White seeks its first win over Arkansas Tech in school history as the two meet for the seventh time in the series. It marks the second time the two institutions have played in Russellville, Ark. in the series; the first was the initial outing during the 1999-2000 season … a 70-54 win for ATU.

Following Saturday's contest, West Alabama will face Harding on Nov. 30. The five-game road trip concludes with a pair of outings at the West Florida hosted Argo Classic on Dec. 4th and 5th.
