LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Looking to bounce back from its first loss of the season, the West Alabama women's basketball will travel to Valdosta, Ga. for the VSU Days INNvitational to take on a pair of opponents this weekend. UWA will try to improve upon its 4-1 record with a Saturday contest against Talladega College before taking on Georgia Southwestern on Sunday.
UWA continued its string of five games in eight days Thursday night, nearly resulting in a second victory over the nation's top-ranked team Thursday night, but the Tigers could not match the heroics from last weekend's win over Arkansas Tech as the team dropped a 58-56 decision to Delta State on a last-second shot.
Trying to move on from the tough loss, the Red and White will face familiar opposition as it takes on Talladega College – a squad it defeated on Nov. 23. In that 57-51 triumph,
Latashia Greer paced the Tigers with a team-best 15 points.
Greer currently sits second on the team in scoring as she is averaging 12.4 points per game, trailing Mystee Dale who is leading the squad with a contest average of 17 points. Dale is also the leading Tiger on the glass as she is averaging 7.2 boards.
Game time against TC – who holds a 1-8 mark on the season – is set for 1 p.m. CST on Saturday.
On Sunday the Tigers will square off against a Georgia Southwestern squad that currently sits at 4-1 on the year. Jessica Bivins has led the Lady Hurricanes who notched a 70-57 win over Gulf South Conference member West Florida in their last time out on Wednesday. Bivins holds a scoring average of 12.6 points.
GSW and the Tigers tip at 1 p.m. CST on Sunday.
