UWA Out Hits Stillman but Falls 7-4

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of West Alabama baseball team out hit Stillman College but had a hard time putting runs on the scoreboard as UWA (4-2) fell 7-4 at Tiger Field on Sunday afternoon. The Red and White posted 12 total hits in the loss to SC's eight hits.
 
The Tigers stranded 15 runners on the base path and tallied 12 fly ball outs. 

SC jumped on the scoreboard with four runs in the first three innings. After UWA tied the contest at 1-all in the second inning, the Blue and Gold clad Tigers pasted three runs in the fourth inning including two runs off the bat of Brett Blakey. Blakey's homerun flew over the left field fence and scored Kyle McCreies. SC posted three more runs in the fifth. McCreies drove in the first two runs with a single up the middle to score Shannon Smith and Sean Blair. Patrick Chamberlain followed two outs later with a single that plated Grayson Crawford. 

After Kevin Deese led off the seventh inning with a single to right field, Colin McKeen hit a one out single up the middle to score Deese, pulling the Red and White within 7-2. McKeen was UWA's first run of the of the game as he scored on a Clint Brown's sacrifice bunt. 

Dallas Rogers led off the UWA eighth with a triple to right center field and scored on Lige Mitchell's ground out to Smith. The Tigers loaded the bases in the top of the ninth with an out but managed only one run in the inning as Douglas Frazier scored on a Clint Alford sacrifice fly to right field. 

UWA starter Kasey Nafzger (0-1) was saddled with the loss. The Westerville, Ohio-senior tossed three complete innings allowing four runs on four hits with a walk and three strikeouts. 

Stillman improved to 3-4 on the season.
