Tiger Hoops Turns Back UAH

LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- Latashia Greer poured in 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead West Alabama to an 87-65 win over Alabama-Huntsville here Saturday afternoon, clinching a third place spot for UWA in the upcoming Gulf South Conference Tournament. 

The Tigers, who finished the regular season 9-18 overall and 5-5 in the GSC, will take on Delta State Thursday in the first round.  Tip off with the Lady Statesmen is set for 7:30 p.m. at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Miss.

The UAH Lady Chargers finished the campaign with a 4-20 overall mark and a 1-9 standard in league play. Marissa Carter paced the visitors with 22 points while Monica Boatright chipped in 10.

West Alabama broke open a tight game by scoring the last ten points of the first half to take a 43-30 lead at intermission. UWA's biggest lead came with 5:35 to go when Nichole Dames' three pointer put the Tigers up 75-52.

Jenni Thomley, the Tigers lone senior playing in her final game at Pruitt Hall, added a season-high 14 points, while Keiara Middleton scored 12 and Dames threw in 11 points. The Tigers blistered the nets for a 54.7 percentage (35-64), including 12-of-21 from the three-point arc. All ten Tigers scored in the contest and UWA dished out a season high 27 assists.
