LIVINGSTON, Ala. –
Looking to earn revenge for a loss earlier this season, the University of West Alabama women's basketball team will host Alabama in Huntsville on Saturday. Tip-off between the Tigers (16-5, 4-3 Gulf South Conference) and UAH (10-11, 5-3 GSC) is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall.

UWA fell by a 78-74 score back on Jan. 22. The Lady Chargers did not shoot the ball particularly well on that day – connecting on just 36.2 percent of their shots – but they nailed 13 3-pointers to snap what had been a 10-game winning streak for the Red and White.

Looking to avoid a second loss to UAH, the Tigers will attempt to prevent the defensive breakdowns that allowed many of the long-range shots to be uncontested tries while maintaining what was a solid offensive effort. Four Tigers scored in double figures, led by LaShandra McCoy who recorded 18 points in the contest.

With the strength of that performance, McCoy sits third on the team in scoring entering Saturday's contest as she currently owns an average of 10.7 points per game. Latashia Greer is second on the squad with 12.6, and Monday night's star Mystee Dale is averaging 21.0 on the year.

Dale scored 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds while also collecting seven assists and five steals in UWA's 75-55 victory over Lambuth.

The win snapped a two-game slide for the Tigers.

With a win over Valdosta State at home on Monday, the Lady Chargers have won four of their last five contests but only two of those affairs have been on the road. UAH dropped an 84-66 decision at GSC East-leading UNA on Feb. 3 while picking up a road win at Lambuth on Jan. 27.

Saturday's opponent owns a 2-6 mark on the road on the season.

The Lady Chargers have five players in double figures and are led by Jasmine Hammon who is averaging just over 18 points per game. Jordan Smith is second on the squad with a 15.5 scoring average and she is the reigning GSC East Player of the Week after dropping 29 on Valdosta State.

It was, however, someone not among the five leading scorers that burned UWA in the earlier meeting. Andrea Bennett was on fire from long range in that one, hitting six of her 12 3-point tries.
