LIVINGSTON, Ala. –
Looking to earn a spot in the Gulf South Conference Tournament, the University of West Alabama women's basketball team hosts West Georgia and Valdosta State in a pair of critical contests to round out the regular season slate. UWG travels to town on Thursday with VSU following behind on Saturday.

The Tigers sit at 17-7 on the season and feature a 5-5 record in conference play, and that GSC mark places UWA in a tie with West Georgia and Alabama in Huntsville for third place. The Lady Blazers sit just above the bunch in second at 6-4.

With just two games remaining in conference play for all, the possibilities remain innumerable for who will make the postseason and in what position they will be seeded. However, it can be said with certainty that the Tigers will make the eight-team tournament field by picking up wins in their final two games.

The push to make the tourney will be keyed by the nation's second-leading scorer. With 21.3 points per game, Mystee Dale is the GSC's top scorer while she also boasts the league's best free throw percentage at 88.4 percent.

Joining her in double figures continues to be Latashia Greer (12.2 points per game) and LaShandra McCoy (10.8 points per game).

In the earlier contest against West Georgia – an 80-71 victory in overtime – the trio all had big roles as Dale and McCoy each scored 22 points while Greer added 17. In UWA's 60-41 loss at Valdosta, Greer led the way with 13 points.

The three will join Larrenda Rockwell in being honored prior to their final home contest at UWA on Saturday.

West Georgia enters Thursday's game having lost three of four to feature an overall record of 8-16, while Valdosta State enters the stretch on a three-game victory streak headed into its Thursday night contest at West Florida.

The game against UWG tips at 5:30 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall, while Saturday's contest – part of Super Tiger Day – is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
