The two runs proved to be all the run support that Whitney Gilbert needed in the contest as Gilbert improved to 11-4 on the year. Gilbert scattered four hits with five batters fanned and two walks in the complete game victory.

UWA rallied back with a run in the third to cut the lead in half as Tamara Vickers scored capitalizing on a Charger error, but the Blue and White pushed the lead back out to two runs in the fourth as Kellie Johnson singled up the middle to score Kat Whitlock and added an insurance run in the sixth to garner the opening game win.

Kristen Skinner (6-5) took the complete game loss with four runs – three earned – on 10 hits while striking out three and walking two in the effort.

In the night cap, the Charger bats remained hot scoring seven total runs in the first two innings, including a five spot in the second frame. Whitney Toler (11-5) logged the win in the circle allowing just two runs on five hits in the win while striking out five batters.

Johnson and McNett each drove in two runs to extend the Chargers' lead to 6-0. Johnson added the first of the five runs with a two-run homer to left field and after three consecutive singles, McNett followed with a bases loaded, one out, single to left field that scored Kelli long and Mary Kelley.

Jessica Brock (10-5) tossed only 1.1 innings in the loss surrendering six runs on six hits paired with two strikeouts.

UAH supplied an additional two runs in the third to increase its lead to 9-0 before the Tigers added a run in the home half of third as Miller scored from first base on a Stephanie Shoup triple down the right field line.

UWA added it's only other run of the contest in the fourth as Angela Arredondo and Scarlett Wright recorded back-to-back doubles with Wright's scoring Arredondo.

Taylor Tucker pitched the final three innings of the outing for the Red and White holding the Chargers to just a run on three hits with two walks and a strikeout. Hannah Griffin recorded the final two outs of the second inning with three runs scoring on a trio of hits with a strikeout and a pair of walks.
