LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The University of West Alabama Softball program placed two representatives on the D2CCA All-Region Team, with Eleanor De Block earning First Team honors and ShaKeria Washington receiving a Second Team selection.
De Block earned her second All-Region honor in 2026 after being named to the NFCA All-Region Team last week. Washington secured her first career All-Region selection following an impressive introductory season with the Tigers.
De Block's 2026 campaign firmly etched her name into the record books. The senior finished the season with a 25-10 record and a 1.62 ERA, ranking 12th nationally. The senior recorded 11 complete-game shutouts, breaking the program's single-season record in that category while ranking third in Division II.
The right-hander was dominant in the circle, holding opposing batters to a .169 batting average and allowing just 4.1 hits per seven innings which is the third-best mark in the nation. De Block also totaled a career-high 177 strikeouts, ranking second in the GSC and 22nd nationally.
De Block put together a historic year in her last collegiate season and now looks to tact on even more awards as she advances to the All-American ballot.
As for Washington, she delivered one of the top power-hitting seasons in UWA Softball history during her first year at West Alabama. The junior catcher started all 59 games behind the plate for the Tigers and hit .287 with 11 home runs and 47 RBIs.
Washington led the team with 29 extra-base hits and posted a .618 slugging percentage. She recorded 10 multi-hit games during the season and earned GSC Player of the Week honors once.
Washington caught fire during the second half of the season, batting .320 with 10 home runs and 37 RBIs over the final 34 games. During the GSC Tournament, she hit .500 with two home runs and five RBIs, earning GSC Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors.
Both De Block and Washington were catalysts in UWA's historic 2026 season, which included a GSC Championship and a program-record 44 wins.
