UWA Volleyball Continues to Roll

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team (6-2) cruised to victory and wrapped up the Alabama-Huntsville Tournament with a 3-0 triumph against Albany State on Saturday.

With the win, UWA moves to 6-2 on the year as the squad heads into Gulf South Conference play this week. The Tigers host Union University at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Pruitt Hall.

West Alabama won with relative ease on Saturday, as the squad took a straight-set victory, 25-19, 25-16 and 25-20.

Leading the way for the Tigers were three players who scored double-digit kill totals with Tazra Pitts' and Chanel Davis' 11 kills apiece along with Carly Wehling's 10 on the day.

Coming into the weekend as the leaders in the GSC in the service aces category, the Tigers added nine to that total in three games on Saturday, while the squad boasted 14 blocks in the win.

Fans are encouraged to come out and join the Tigers on Tuesday night as the squad hosts Union. Students have a chance to earn student rewards by attending, as UWA kicks off the 2012 GSC season.
