CLINTON, Miss. – West Alabama had little trouble dispatching Mississippi College in men's and women's college tennis matches Thursday at the MC Tennis Complex. The UWA women took an 8-1 win, while the men defeated the Choctaws 7-2.
 
West Alabama's women are now 9-3 on the season, while the men improved to 8-2. Women won 8-1 to improve to 9-3. The Mississippi College men are 2-2 and the women's team dipped to 1-3.
 
Helga Jeske, Jill Furlong, Natalia Cardenas, Dasha Popova and Emily Gerding each claimed singles victories for West Alabama. UWA women's doubles teams got the match off on the right foot with the combinations of Furlong/Cardenas, Popova/Gerding and Jeske/Shannon McEvoy each scoring victories.
 
Nestor Vargas, Anton Ivanov, Honorio Fernandez, Kike Ruiz and Simon Bardell were singles winners for the UWA men. Ivanov/Adam Drysdale and Vargas/Ruiz won No.2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively.
 
The Tigers next scheduled match is March 9 against Indianapolis in Gulf Shores, Ala.
