Box Score 2 LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Sarah Ray pitched a five-hit shutout in the first game and
Stephanie Shoup's bases-clearing triple in the fifth inning broke open the second game to give West Alabama a Gulf South Conference softball doubleheader sweep Sunday at the UWA Softball Complex.
The Tigers won the opener, 1-0, and then came from behind to win the second game, 5-2.
Ranked No. 19 in the nation, West Alabama improved its record to 14-5 overall and 5-3 in the GSC. West Florida dropped to 10-12 and 4-6.
Taylor Tucker earned her second save in relief of Ray in the first game. Ray went 5.2 innings, striking out four and walking two. Tucker gave up a hit and struck out one in 1.1 innings of work. Taylor Bailey (6-5) was tagged with the West Florida loss after
Whitney Brown singled in
Tamara Vickers in the fifth inning.
With the Tigers trailing 1-0 in the fifth inning of the second game, Shoup tripled to clear the bases in a five-run fifth inning.

Kelsey Cooper and Vickers each had a pair of hits for UWA. Kasie Buckley and Audrey Harner had two hits each for the Argonauts in the nightcap.
Jessica Brock (3-4) earned the win in relief of
Skylar Davis in the second game, while Tucker finished up for her second save of the day and third of the season. Jordan Ratcliff (4-6) took the UWF loss.
The Tigers have the week off before traveling to Christian Brothers on Saturday and Delta State on Sunday.
