Box Score CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Lee's Hollie German unleashed her own version of the Luftwaffe, scoring 26 points in just 29 minutes to lead the Lady Flames to a 79-48 Gulf South Conference women's basketball victory over West Alabama Thursday at Paul Dana Walker Arena.
German was her own air force, almost scoring at will despite not playing for the final 10 minutes of the game. She converted 10-of-17 field goal attempts, 4-of-9 from long range.
"Hollie German is the best player in this league," UWA head coach Craig Roden said. "I'm not sure who is second, but it's a distant second.
"She makes great decisions, passes well and shoots the lights out," Roden said. "She makes every open shot and half of the ones where she is covered. That's the mark of a great player."
The win lifts Lee to 18-4 overall, 14-2 in the GSC. West Alabama lost for the 13
th time on the road, dropping to 4-20 and 1-17.
Lee led 39-28 at the half, with eight of the Lady Flames' 12 field goals coming from beyond the three-point arc. After shooting 41 percent in the first half, West Alabama managed just three field goals in the first 16 minutes of the second half as the game slipped away.
Jenna Adams contributed 19 points for the Lady Flames and Christina Johnson collected a game-high eight rebounds. Lee outrebounded West Alabama 41-29.
Quentinette Odom scored 13 points to lead the Tigers, followed by
Kelcia Bufkin with 11.
Malaka Johnson had six rebounds.
West Alabama returns to the friendly confines of Pruitt Hall on the UWA campus for the final two regular season games of the season, hosting North Alabama on Thursday and Union on March 1.
