LIVINGSTON, Ala. â€“ West Alabama will meet North Alabama in the opening round of The Bojangles' Famous Chicken 'n Biscuits 2014 Gulf South Conference Softball Tournament Thursday at 11 a.m. at Heritage Park in Cullman, Ala. 
The Tigers come into the GSC Tournament as the No. 6 seed, with a 24-23 overall record. UWA was 11-16 in GSC regular season play. The third-seeded Lions are 36-14 overall and finished GSC regular season play at 19-11. 
With a win over UNA, the Tigers would play the winner of the first-round game between Valdosta State and West Georgia at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Should UWA lose to North Alabama, the Tigers will play the loser of the VSU-UWG game, also at 1:30. 
Five Tigers are batting over .300 led by first baseman 
Anna Shartzer with a .411 average. Shartzer has struck out only three times in 163 at bats, and is listed as the 18
th "toughest to strikeout" in the NCAA.   
Left fielder 
Whitney Brown leads the Tigers with 10 home runs, while 
Rebecca Schick leads with 51 runs batted in. 
Lydia North leads the nation with 32 hit by pitches and is five away from setting a new NCAA record. She is 20
th in the country in on base percentage with .534.   
The Tigers are led in the circle by 
Sarah Ray-Averett with a 3.34 ERA and eight wins. 
Skylar Davis follows closely behind with a 3.57 ERA and six wins, including two shutouts. 
Taylor Tucker has provided relief all season, capturing two saves on her way to a 4.08 ERA.
