Seniors Adkins and Traweek Come Up Big in Senior Night

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – On the night when West Alabama men's soccer honored its senior class, two seniors stepped up to lead the Tigers to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory in overtime over Spring Hill College in Gulf South Conference action at Tiger Stadium on Friday.

Seniors Zach Traweek and Christian Adkins each tallied their first goals of the season. Traweek's scored the golden goal four and half minutes into the overtime period, while Adkins recorded the equalizer with less than four minutes to play in the first half.

The win lifts West Alabama to 6-5-2 overall and ties the Tigers with Alabama Huntsville for first place in the GSC standings at 5-1-1. Spring Hill falls to 2-9 and 0-5.

"I'm proud of these seniors and the whole team," said UWA head coach Matthew Thorne.

"This class has been playing like this all four years. Spring Hill is a very well organized team and they are hard to breakdown. They scored on a counter play early and we were disappointed to allow that, but we showed good discipline to bounce back. Overall, we are proud of the performance and will take this momentum into Sunday."

UWA out-shot the Badgers 18-6, but SHC applied early pressure with a goal by Viktor Kvarnlof in the 33rd minute that gave his team a 1-0 lead.

Brad Louis (2-3) picked up the win, making one save. Will Carpenter (2-9) completed 10 saves to take the loss.

West Alabama men's soccer returns to action on Sunday as it plays host to West Florida. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. in Tiger Stadium.
