CARROLLTON, Ga. – The No. 2 team in the nation, the University of Tampa, swept the University of West Alabama 3-0 in the final day of the West Georgia Crossover tournament Saturday.
Tampa extends its win streak to 11 and improves to 16-3 overall. It's the fourth straight loss for UWA, who drops to 7-14. UT swept the match winning 25-13, 25-18 and 25-14.
The Spartans combined to hit .432 with 43 kills, while limiting the Tigers to .057 with 24 kills. Marissa Lisenbee led the attach with nine kills in 12 attempts for a .667 attack percentage.
Yanesha Johnson led West Alabama with eight kills.
Tampa's defense out-blocked UWA 7-4 with Lisenbee, Jessica Wagner, Alexandra Misca and Megan Heffron each posting two block assists.
Taylin McCarver tallied four block assists for the Tigers. Logan Holanchock finished with 15 digs, while Vic Collins totaled seven.
West Alabama volleyball returns to Gulf South Conference action on Tuesday when it travels to take on Alabama Huntsville. The match is set for 7 p.m. in Huntsville, Ala.
