Tavarius Lewis, a member of the 2014-15 University of West Alabama Tiger Wranglers rodeo team was remembered in a memorial service on June 20 at Living Stones Temple in Fultondale, Alabama. Lewis tragically lost his life in an automobile accident.
 
A rough stock rider for the UWA Wranglers and an environmental science major, Lewis was 23 at the time of his death. Prior to coming to UWA, Lewis was a student at Middle Tennessee State University. He also was a running back at Shades Valley (Ala.) High School.
 
He is survived by his mother Tawanna Burke Lewis (finance Calvin Payne, aka Pops); father, Iram Lewis Jr.; a sister Imari Tianna Lewis. Grandparents: Dr. Warren Burke DVM, (Brenda), Anna Harrison-Burke (Poppa Grant Toyer) and Meldora Lewis (late Rev. Aram Lewis Sr.).
