Rodeo Continues Spring Season in Poplarville for Pearl River CC Rodeo

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama Rodeo Program returns to action this weekend at Pearl River CC's Home Rodeo in Poplarville, Mississippi.

The rodeo is set to begin Thursday night, with competition concluding Saturday.

West Alabama brings two nationally ranked programs into the weekend. The UWA men's team is ranked 10th in the country with 3,120 points, while the women's team sits 25th with 1,113 points.

WEST ALABAMA MEN'S RODEO

The Tigers head to Poplarville following a second-place finish at EMCC's rodeo, where they totaled 540 points. Tanner Brown led the way, advancing to the championship round in both tie-down roping and team roping. Brown now leads the team with 880 points and ranks 15th nationally and second in the Ozark Region in the all-around standings.

Clarke Gordon ranks third in the region's all-around standings with 740 points, while Stone Reeves sits sixth with 425. Gordon, alongside his partner Brown, is among the top team ropers in the country. The senior also competes in tie-down roping, providing a strong boost in that event.

Canyon Trevino leads the Tigers in bull riding, ranking sixth in the region with 125 points. In steer wrestling, West Alabama's trio of Evan Bourdon, Teigan Orr, and Austin Brooks all rank in the top 10. Bourdon is sixth with 220 points, followed closely by Orr (seventh, 210) and Brooks (eighth, 195).

WEST ALABAMA WOMEN'S RODEO

The women's team enters the weekend with momentum after capturing its first win of the season at EMCC's rodeo. The Tigers recorded 240 points, their third-highest total this year.

Sydney Poole continues to shine, advancing to the championship round in both breakaway roping and barrel racing last weekend. She now leads UWA with 508.33 points, which ranks second in the region.

Meah Pinter has also put together a strong season, currently sitting seventh in the region in goat tying with 205 points. She showcased her versatility last weekend by adding 120 points in breakaway roping to help secure the team victory.

Ashley Teems, Andi Norwood, Summerlin, and O'Neill all appear in the breakaway roping rankings, while Millie Joe Rosenberg, Madison Murphy, and Aubrey Mills are listed on the barrel racing leaderboards.

West Alabama enters the weekend with strong momentum and will look to continue building on that success in Poplarville.
