MONTGOMERY, Ala – Second-seed Valdosta State defeated West Alabama,5-0, in the 2016 GSC Women's Tennis Tournament semifinals on Friday at Lagoon Park. The Lady Blazers (13-7) will move to the tournament championship Saturday.

Third-seeded West Alabama (15-7) is elimated from the league tourney and will wait to see if a berth in the NCAA South Region Tournament is offered. Valdosta State will play top seed West Florida in the tournament finals Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Lady Blazers swept all three doubles matches and then cemented the victory when Josephine Jedrychowski defeated Andrea Tomassone 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles and Anke Poncelet beat Liliana Araucz 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4.
