HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of West Alabama women's tennis team maintained it's hold on second place in the Gulf South Conference standings by notching a 5-4 victory at Alabama Huntsville on Monday.
The Tigers are now 14-4 overall and 8-1 in GSC play. Sixth-ranked West Florida, who handed UWA its only league setback, is in first place with a 10-0 GSC record. UAH fell to 8-10 and 6-3.
West Alabama won two of three doubles matches before
Amina Mukhametshina,
Evelyn Moreno and
Andrea Tomassone won at singles No. 1, 3 and 4, respectively to put the match away.
UWA has already clinched its spot in the GSC Tournament and can nail down the second seed in the tournament with a win over No. 15 Valdosta State (10-6, 7-2) Friday. The match is scheduled to be played in Pensacola, Fla.
