Kumanovic Signs to Play Men's Hoops at UWA

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – International competitor Toni Kumanovic has signed his National Letter of Intent to play collegiate hoops at the University of West Alabama as announced by Tigers men's basketball head coach Allen Sharpe on Tuesday.  

Kumanovic is an incoming freshman from Zagreb, Croatia. As a 6-foot-4 guard he has been an eight-time captain for Club Cibona in Zagreb and a one-time captain for the Croation national team. This season he played for Club Zabok in the First Croatian National League.

In 2015, as a member of Club Cibona in Zagreb, Croatia, Kumanovic helped his U-18 squad to a first place finish in the Croatian championship league, after finishing secon in 2014. He led the team, shooting 45 percent from the 3-point arc.

He competed in the European Youth Olimpic Festival (EYOF) in Utrecht, Netherlands for the Croatian U-16 team in 2013. In the same year, the Croatian U-16 team placed sixth in the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) European championship team.

He has gone on to compete in tournaments in Milano, Italy and Budapest, Hungry. While with Club Cibona, he has played along side Ivica Zubac (signed with Lakers), Ante Žižic (signed with Celtics) and with Dragan Bender (signed with Suns) while with the Croatian national team.
