Valdosta State Downs UWA Women 5-2.

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Amina Mukhametshina, ranked 26th nationally, got West Alabama off to a good start by defeating No. 13 Bea Morales Hernandez 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1 singles, but it wasn't enough as Valdosta State defeated the Tigers 5-2 Saturday in Gulf South Conference women's tennis.
 
The win was the fourth straight for No. 10 Valdosta State, improving the Lady Blazers to 9-5 overall and 4-1 in the GSC. No. 22 West Alabama lost its fourth straight match is now 10-6 and 5-2.

After VSU won at Singles 2 through 5, Andrea Tomassone earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Joanna Lario at No. 6 singles, forcing doubles play.
 
Daniela Barta and Anja Coksa handed the match to the Lady Blazers with an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles over Liliana Araucz and Evelyn Moreno.
 
West Alabama remains in Pensacola to play Florida Tech at 9 a.m. Sunday.
