UWA Women Close Tennis Regular Season With 5-1 Win over Montevallo

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The 22^nd-ranked West Alabama women's tennis team closed its regular season with a 5-1 victory over Montevallo Thursday at the Vaughan Tennis Complex.

The Tigers improved to 15-6 overall and ended the regular season with a perfect 10-0 home record. Montevallo dropped to 16-8.

Amina Mukhametshina and Georgina Morral defeated Alice Copland and Rayne Sinclair, 8-2, at No. 1 singles, while Teona Tatishvili and Andrea Tomassone beat Julia Berg and Amanda Gautreaux, 9-7, to give West Alabama a 2-1 advantage after doubles.

Georgina Morral, Liliana Araucz and Andrea Tomassone finished off the victory for UWA by winning at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles, respectively.

West Alabama takes a five-match winning streak and the No. 3 seed into the Gulf South Conference Tournament April 20-22 in Montgomery, Alabama. The Tigers will play No. 6 seed Alabama Huntsville at 9 a.m. Thursday at the O'Connor Tennis Center.
