MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Tenth-ranked Valdosta State punched its ticket to the GSC Women's Tennis Tournament Championship with a 5-1 win over No. 22 West Alabama on Friday.
Valdosta State improved to 16-5 and West Alabama dropped to 16-7. Valdosta State advances to its 14
th all-time GSC Women's Tennis Tournament Championship Final. The Lady Blazers currently have four GSC Championship Trophies on their shelf.
"We had several strong performances winning at No. 1 against a nationally-ranked doubles team," UWA coach
Jeff Beaman said. "Amina (Mukhametshina) won her first set at No. 1 singles against ranked opponent and was up at the start of 2nd. Georgina (Morral) was in their third set set and there were several close other matches."
Mukhametshina and Morral defeated Bea Morales Hernandez and Anke Poncelet, 8-6, in No. 1 doubles.
