Tiger Fan Guide to the Upcoming Weekend

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – University of West Alabama sports fans have plenty to choose from as a fun-filled weekend of Tiger sporting events begins Friday evening with both the women and men's soccer teams hosting West Florida, followed by UWA football against Mississippi College on Saturday and another soccer doubleheader Sunday afternoon.
 
Kickoff for Gulf South Conference soccer on Friday is 5 p.m. for the women and 7:30 p.m. for the men. The Tiger football team plays its first home game Saturday, kicking off at 6 p.m. Sunday soccer begins with the women hosting Valdosta State at 1 p.m., followed by the men versus Spring Hill at 3:30 p.m.
 
Following are some tidbits and general reminders to help Tiger fans navigate the weekend's activities:
  • Gates open 90 minutes prior to game time at all sporting events.
  • The UWA Scarlet band will be present in the reserved "Red" seats for Friday night soccer.
  • UWA International Programs is serving free ice cream to Tiger soccer fans from 7 to 7:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
  • Year six of UWA Athletics Student Rewards swipe in to win begins with Friday soccer.
  • Pony Hop Races are scheduled for halftime of both soccer matches on Friday and Sunday, as well as during the first break of Saturday's football game.
  • T-shirts and restaurant gift cards are among the prizes fans could win at the soccer matches.
  • Football parking behind Tiger Stadium on Saturday is limited to those holding Tiger Alley parking permits. All other parking on the UWA campus is $5.
  • To reserve a space for a camper or RV call (205) 652-3630. The cost is $30 per football game.
  • Entrance to the stadium is available at several gates with valid tickets or passes.
  • Pets, umbrellas and outside drinks are not allowed in Tiger Stadium on game day.
  • The Tiger Room hot buffet meal will only be served during the pregame beginning this season for football games. Hot dogs and bag snacks, as well as beverages, will be available at halftime.
  • Over 450 UWA Freshmen will run on to the field during football pregame ceremonies.
  • There will be a helmet presentation ceremony during the pregame to the family of late UWA cheerleader Libby Hankins.
  • In-game competitions for UWA students during Saturday's football game include the Woodstock Furniture Best Seat in the House to the top two finishers in the Pony Hop, as well as Dizzy Izzy Races, Football Relay and Field Goal Kick.
  • Tailgating begins on the Lyon lawn at 2 p.m. Saturday.
  • A Corn Hole Tournament gets underway at 3 p.m. Saturday at Lyon Lawn.
  • The Tiger Prowl begins at 5 p.m. from Lyon Lawn to Tiger Stadium on Saturday.
  • The Farmer's Federation, Alfa Fish Fry begins at 4 p.m. Saturday at Tiger Alley. Fried catfish, hushpuppies and coleslaw are available FREE to Tiger football fans.
