Tigers Wrap Day One of Argonaut Cup, Set Team Record in Birdies

PENSACOLA, Fla.– The West Alabama Men's Golf team found some favor at the Pensacola County Club, setting a team record with 18 birdies. However, the Tigers find themselves in 10th place after two rounds of the Argonaut Cup hosted by the University of West Florida Monday.
 
UWA (290-297) shot an 11-over 587 on the Par-72 course which extends 6,815 yards over 36 holes today. UWF (275-276) sits atop the team leaderboard at 22-under par on 554 strokes, but only two shots ahead of Delta State.
 
Brannan "Boo" O'Pry (70-72) leads UWA at two-under par on 142 strokes which left him in 17th place on the individual leaderboard. Alex Riley (70-75) is tied for 31st at one-over on 145 day, Andrew Cronwright (76-74) and Korlan Trull (74-76) both shot a six-over 150 and Mark Johnson (83-84) shot a 23-over 167.
 
West Florida's Chandler Blanchet (66-66) leads all players at 12-under on 132 strokres.
 
Other teams participating include: Limestone College, North Alabama, Arkansas Tech, Lee, Valdosta State, Missouri-St. Louis, Saint Leo, Southwestern Oklahoma State, West Georgia, Spring Hill College and Montevallo.
 
The Argonaut Cup concludes Tuesday with a shotgun start tomorrow morning.
