Tigers Tied for Ninth after Day One of GSC Men’s Championship Tournament

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – After the first round of play in the 2018 Gulf South Conference Men's Championship Tournament, the West Alabama Tigers face an uphill battle after tying for ninth Sunday at the Mountain View Course at Callaway Gardens.
 
UWA shot a team score of 320 which is 32-over on the Par 72 course. Delta State sits atop of the team leaderboard after going four-over on 292 strokes during the first 18 holes of the three-day tournament.
 
Brannon "Boo" O'Pry leads the Tigers after a first round three-over 75 to place him tied for 11th overall. Alec Riley is tied for 28th after going seven-over on 79 strokes while Korlan Trull shot a 10-over 82, Andrew Cronwight is 12-over on 84 shots and Mark Johnson used 87 strokes for a 15-over finish in the first round.
 
Delta State's George Kawell sits alone atop the leaderboard with a three-under 69 on the day.
 
The tournament resumes tomorrow with the first Tiger teeing off at 12 p.m. in Georgia.
