UWA in Sixth after First Round of GSC Women’s Golf Championship Tournament

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The West Alabama Tigers find themselves in sixth place as a team after the first round of the Gulf South Conference Women's Golf Championship Tournament on Sunday on the Lake View Course at Callaway Gardens.
 
UWA shot a 45-over 333 as a team fighting through tough weather conditions due to rain moving in the area. Lee University sits in first with an 18-over 306 during the first 18 holes of the three-day tournament.
 
Alicia Fajardo is tied for eighth after a six-over 78 effort on the Par 72 course. Just one stroke behind is Hannah McCracken with seven-over 79 and tied for 11th. Ye Eun Jin finished nine-over on 82 shots, Kaitlyn Rose shot a 22-over 94 and Megan Ward shot a 36-over 108.
 
West Florida's Kayla Smith and Paloma Vaccaro both shot even par to top the individual leaderboard.
 
The tournament resumes tomorrow with the first Tiger teeing off at 12 p.m. in Georgia.
