Bria Dent Earns Third Straight GSC Freshman of Week Honor

BIRMINGHAM – For the third consecutive week West Alabama's Bria Dent has earned Gulf South Conference women's basketball Freshman of the Week for her performances in two games last week.
 
In games against West Florida and Montevallo the forward from Minor (Ala.) High School averaged 31 minutes, 14.5 points and 8.0 rebounds. She extended her streak of double-doubles to five games with 13 points and 10 rebounds against UWF.
 
She also shot 50 percent from the field (11-for-22) and 67 percent (4-for-6) from the free throw line against the Lady Argonauts and Lady Falcons.
 
Due to injuries over the last six games forcing an increase in Dent's playing time, she has answered the bell by averaging 35 minutes played, 15.0 points and 10.8 rebounds. Over the last six games she has shot 47 percent (32-of-68) from the floor, 50 percent (5-of-10) from three-point range and 68 percent (21-of-31) from the free throw line.
 
Dent and the Tigers return to action Thursday at West Florida. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. in Pensacola, Florida.
