West Alabama is 5-4 overall, 2-4 in the GSC after a 13-10 win at Florida Tech last week.
 
MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE
Mississippi College is 4-4 overall, 3-3 in GSC play after a 35-21 loss at West Georgia.

Brett Gilliland is 42-25 in his sixth season as a head coach, all at UWA. John Bland is 84-65 in his 11th year as a head coach, 14-44 in his sixth year at MC.

LAST EIGHT, SERIES HISTORY
West Alabama has won the last eight meetings in the series dating back to 1996. The Tigers and the Choctaws played every season between 1965 and 1997 as members of the GSC before MC left the league for a period of time. West Alabama has won all five games since the Choctaws returned to the GSC in 2014.

GSC WEEKLY AWARDS
UWA kicker Tre Jackson and defensive end Jordan Jones earned GSC weekly football awards for their performances in the Tigers' victory at Florida Tech last Saturday. Jackson earned GSC special teams player of the week and Jones earned GSC co-defensive player of the week, sharing the honor with Delta State defensive back Junior Faulk. Rounding out the league's honors was West Georgia quarterback Garrett Bass, who earned both offensive player and freshman of the week.

SENIOR DAY
UWA will honor 22 seniors during pregame activities Saturday. Including redshirt seasons, this senior class has won 37 games and made two NCAA Playoff appearances.

West Alabama is 0-4 in TV games this season, 20-19 all time.

West Alabama head coach Brett Gilliland is 5-0 against Mississippi College, 2-0 in Livingston.

LAST YEAR IN CLINTON: TIGERS 24, PANTHERS 3
The West Alabama defense kept Mississippi College out of the end zone and held  the Choctaws to 97 yards below their rushing average on the way to a 24-3 win Nov. 3.  Tiger defenders held Mississippi College twice on fourth down deep in Tiger territory in the fourth quarter and forced three turnovers. Abraham Wallace and Montell Dent had interceptions and Savon Parker recovered a fumble.

JORDAN TIE FOR 10
Tiger DE Jordan Jones comes into the game this week with 40 career tackles for loss, leaving him 10th all-time in the Gulf South Conference.
 
EVEN TIGHT, PERFECT IN BIG MARGINS
West Alabama is 1-1 in games decided by five points or less, but 3-0 in games decided by 20 points or more.

In its five wins West Alabama has won by an average of 22.8 points. In four setbacks the Tigers have lost by an average of 12.5 points.
 
TWO STRAIGHT FOR BOYD
This is the second consecutive season that Qua Boyd has been voted by his teammates as a permanent team captain.
 
QUA MOVING UP RECEIVING CHARTS
With three regular seasons games to play Tiger tight end Qua Boyd has moved to fifth on the UWA all-time receptions chart with 120. His 1,514 receding yards is sixth all-time.
 
BAYLEY ONE OF EIGHT
Junior receiver Bayley Blanchard is eighth on the UWA career list with 100 receptions as his junior season nears its conclusion. He is one of only eight receivers in UWA history to have 100 receptions. Blanchard is one of two receivers in the league with over 40 catches with 43.
 
ALL-GSC OVER THE YEARS
As the time to vote for all-conference players nears, a look  back shows that West Alabama has had 142 All-GSC players.
 
OVER A K FOR CHRISTIAN
UWA receiver and kick returner Christian Saulsberry is the only player in the GSC with over 1,000 all-purpose yards. Saulsberry has 1,034.
