Goodwin Signs With UWA Baseball

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Taylor Goodwin, a right-handed pitcher from Warrior, Alabama, has signed to complete his collegiate baseball career at the University of West Alabama.
 
At 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds, Goodwin is transferring from the University of North Alabama. Additional collegiate stops for the Mortimer Jordan (Ala.) High School product include Gardner Webb University and Wallace State (Ala.) Community College.
 
Goodwin pitched in 22 games at Gardner Webb  in 2017, all in relief, posting a 1-2 record with a 6.75 ERA and 22 strikeouts. He had 14 appearances where he did not allow an earned run and seven where he did not allow a base hit.
 
He made nine appearances at Wallace State, putting together a 2-0 record with one save and a 1.80 earned run average. Goodwin walked eight and struck out six in 20 innings pitched for WSCC.
 
He did not appear in a game last season at UNA.

Goodwin put together a star-studded prep career at Mortimer Jordan High School where he was ranked as the second best catcher in the state of Alabama for the 2016 class by Perfect Game and earned 2016 Rawlings-Perfect Game All-American Honorable Mention honors prior to his senior season.
 
In 2016 at MJHS Goodwin batted .411 with 46 hits, 38 RBI and 43 runs scored, stealing 19 bases in 19 attempts. He also had 18 doubles, three home runs, and an impressive 1.228 OPS while drawing playing time as a catcher, outfielder and pitcher. He also lettered in football, wrestling and track.
