Five Student-Athletes Sign National Letters of Intent with UWA Softball

LIVINGSTON, Ala.- The Tigers inked five student-athletes to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period. The group will join UWA softball for the 2021 season.

Karys Black

Boone County HS | Burlington, Ky.
Position: P

  • 2017 and 2019 Division One First Team
  • 2019 Most Valuable Player
  • Intended Major: Criminal Justice
Dever-Boaz on Black

"Karys is a dynamic athlete and ultra competitive! She is going to make an immediate impact for us on both sides of the ball. Karys brings a high softball IQ and we are excited to see her at UWA."

Taylor Clegg

Gordo High School | Gordo, Ala.
Position: UT

"Taylor is very versatile and plays just about anywhere in the field other than catcher for us.  She is a very hard worker and a great teammate. We expect her to do big things at UWA both on and off the field!"

"Riley is an amazing outfielder and a spark plug on her team. She absolutely loves to compete and is one that will find a way to win. Riley is always laying out and running through fences to make the play and we expect her to cover two fields in the grass."

Kori Young
Hale County HS | Moundville, Ala.
Position: INF

  • 2018 4A State Champion
  • Secretary of National Honor Society
  • Intended Major: Occupational Therapy

"Kori is a very fluid and mechanically sound ball player. She can play anywhere on the field and has a lot of pop in her bat. She has the ability to change the game on both sides of the ball."
