ROME, Ga - Katia de la Garza and Haina Franco were defeated in the semi-finals of the ITA Cup on Saturday, Oct. 16th in Rome, Ga.
They were defeated by Christine and Mae Canete from Central Oklahoma in two sets. The first set was 6-3 in favor of Central Oklahoma and the second set was 6-4.
"This was a great experience for our girls and it should show them that they can compete with anyone in the country. We will now prepare for the GSC Individuals," head tennis coach Jeff Beaman said.
Franco competed as an alternate in the singles consolation bracket and was defeated by Isabella Dunlap, who has been ranked as high as second in the country. The first set was 6-2 and the second set was 6-1.
Up next for the Tigers, is a trip to Montgomery, Ala to compete in the GSC Individuals. The tournament is Friday, Oct. 22nd through Sunday, Oct. 24th.
Haina Franco will be competing in the GSC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 22nd.
