Softball Hosts Christian Brothers for Home Opener

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama's softball team hosts Christian Brothers for its 2021 home opening series beginning Friday at the UWA Softball Complex. 

The Tigers and Lady Bucs are scheduled to open the three-game series with a single game Friday at 6 p.m., followed by a Saturday doubleheader at noon. 

"We are so excited to be finally playing at home," UWA head coach Carie Dever-Boaz said. "We love our fans and our facility. It has been a long time since we had the opportunity to do what we love here in Livingston."

UWA comes into the series with a 4-5 overall record, 0-3 in GSC play. Christian Brothers is 0-5 and 0-3. 

Freshman Mary Grace Sheffield and sophomore Preseley Witt leads West Alabama hitters with a .400 batting average, followed by sophomore Kacy Noland hitting .333. 

Catcher Kendall Westbrooks leads Lady Bucs hitters with a .357 batting average, followed by Josie Bond and Mackenzie Puckett hitting .333. 

"We have worked hard in preparation for CBU and are looking forward to finally having the opportunity to play at home," Dever-Boaz said.

There is no admission charge for softball in 2021, but fans are expected to comply with pandemic protocols for facial coverings and social distancing.
