UWA Softball Series Changed to Friday Start

LIVINGSTON, Ala.- The Gulf South Conference softball series scheduled for this weekend at UWA Softball Complex between West Alabama and Shorter has been moved to a single game at 6 p.m. Friday and a doubleheader Saturday at noon.

"This is a big weekend for us to really make a run in the GSC," UWA head coach Carie Dever-Boaz said. "We need to really execute our game plan and play to our level for seven innings in all three games. We are excited to be back on our turf!"

The Tigers are 7-8 overall, 3-6 in GSC play. The Hawks come to Livingston with a 4-10 overall record, 0-6 in the conference. 

Sophomore Kacy Noland leads West Alabama hitters with a .357 batting average, followed by Nicole Buccieri hitting .316.

The Hawks hitters are led by Sydney Poston with a .341 batting average, followed by Kiera Dudley hitting .314.

There is no admission charge for softball in 2021, but fans are expected to comply with pandemic protocols for facial coverings and social distancing.

Concessions will be available at UWA Softball Complex this season; however, due to pandemic precautions, there will only be prepackaged items available.
