Montevallo, Ala. - West Alabama softball heads to Montevallo to open up the three-game series with a single game Friday at 6 p.m., followed by a Saturday doubleheader at 11 a.m. at Softball Stadium at Orr Park.
"We have a big weekend at Montevallo, and I believe if the team stops pressing and really just plays each pitch they will be fine," UWA head coach Carie Dever-Boaz said. "They want it so bad that they have been pressing and playing tight-time to get back to the love of the game."
The Tigers come into the series with a 11-14 overall record, 7-11 in GSC play. The Falcons are 10-14 and 5-9.
Freshman Peyton Coots leads West Alabama hitters with a .382 batting average with four doubles, three home runs and 13 RBIs. Sophomore Kacy Noland is batting .326 with four doubles and five RBIs.
The Tigers top pitchers are Noland, Hannah Mynard, and Breanna Fortenberry. Noland (5-6) has pitched a total of 58.1 innings with a 3.96 earned runs average and has 34 strikeouts. Hannah Mynard (1-2) has pitched 29.1 innings with a 4.53 ERA, while striking out 14. Fortenberry (2-0) has pitched a total of 21.1 innings with a 2.95 ERA.
Montevallo is led by Kinley Adams with a batting average of .429 with five doubles, one triple and seven RBIs.
Mychael McMillian (4-3) is the Falcons top pitcher with an ERA of 4.34 with 39 strikeouts.

There is no admission charge at Montevallo's Softball Stadium at Orr Park, but fans are expected to comply with pandemic protocols for facial coverings and social distancing.
Food trucks will be on-site at Softball Stadium at Orr Park during the games this weekend.
