Tiger Men and Women Both Third at Weevil Stampede

MONTICELLO, Ark. – Heather McLaughlin finished second in goat tying, while Jacob Watt teamed with his brother Matt to finish third in team roping as both the West Alabama Tiger Wrangler men and women finished third at the Weevil Stampede hosted by Arkansas-Monticello this weekend at the Drew County Fairgrounds.

East Mississippi Community College tallied 545 points to win the women's side of the rodeo, followed by Missouri Valley (265), West Alabama (160), Central Methodist (113.33) and Arkansas Rich Mountain (70) to round out the top five. Remaining scorers were Pearl River (Miss.) Community College (30), Tennessee-Martin (15) and Southern Arkansas (10).

Missouri Valley rang up 1,060 points to win the men's side, followed by EMCC (530), UWA (330), Three Rivers (Mo.) College (300) and PRCC (260) in the top five. Southern Arkansas (280) was sixth, followed by UTM (240), UARM (80) and Murray (Ky.) State (40).

McLaughlin posted a 16.1 average and picked up 110 points for UWA. Heather Varner was sixth in the same event, adding 50 more points for UWA with a 16.8.

The Watt brothers earned 80 points by posting a 14.8 average. Matt rodeos for EMCC, but teams with Jacob to comprise one of the top team roping pairs in the Ozark Region.

Ryder Ladner took ninth in calf roping and earned 50 points for the Tigers. He was eighth in steer wrestling to add 40 more points on an average of 11.4. Ladner teamed with Chase Graves to capture seventh in team roping.

JT Ellison took sixth in steer wrestling with a 10.8 average and scored 40 points, while Cooper Malone was 10^th in the same event.

The Tiger Wranglers return to the arena April 15-17 at the 53^rd Annual UT Martin Spring College Rodeo in Martin, Tennessee.
