#14 Men's Rodeo

UWA Rodeo Showdown Starts Thursday

LIVINGSTON, Ala – The Annual University of West Alabama Rodeo Showdown is set for Thursday through Saturday at the Hines-Spree Rodeo Complex. The event will return to the UWA campus after being at the Lauderdale County Agri-Center last year.

The rodeo will feature over 300 cowboys and cowgirls from the Ozark Region and are expected to compete in 10 events. The UWA women are currently in third place in the Ozark Region standings, while the men are in sixth place.

"It's exciting being able to compete in front of our home crowd. Everyone gets into it and we try to soak up every moment of it," head rodeo coach Daniel Poole said.

UWA Steer Wrestler Cooper Malone heads into week two of fall competition as the leading Steer Wrestler in the Ozark Region. Heather McLaughlin is in first place in Goat Tying.

Performances begin each night at 7 p.m. The gates will open at 6 p.m. Adults can get in for $10, children $5, and children 5 and under are admitted for free. UWA students are admitted free with a valid student ID. UWA All-Sports Passes and UWA Faculty/Staff ID will be accepted.
