Jocobby Robinson Hired as Assistant Coach for UWA Baseball

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama baseball team has announced the hiring of former Tiger player, Jocobby Robinson as an assistant coach. 
 
Robinson played two seasons at West Alabama in 2013 and 2014 as a second baseman and centerfielder. He graduated from UWA in 2014 with a degree in Sport Management and a minor in Business. He was team-captain and named to the Gulf South Conference First-Team as an outfielder. 
 
During his career as a coach, he has coached 14 players that have been selected in the MLB Draft, six All-Americans, eight All-Region players, and 25 All-Conference players. 
 
Robinson returns to West Alabama after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach for Lee University. Robinson helped coach Lee to a GSC Regular Season Championship and were ranked No. 2 during the season. 
 
Before his stint at Lee, Robinson had coaching stops at the Ontario Blue Jays Fall Travel Team and at Young Harris. While at Young Harris, Robinson helped coach the Mountain Lions to a Peach Belt Tournament Championship and helped bring in the No. 3 recruiting class. 
 
He began his coaching career as a student assistant in 2015 for UWA and coached outfielders and assisted with hitting. He helped coach the Tigers to win the GSC Regular Season and Tournament Championship. 
 
Robinson is originally from Meridian, Miss. and graduated from Meridian High School in 2010. He was a member of the baseball team for three years, where he was team-captain. 
 
After high school, Robinson went to Holmes Community College where he was part of the first ever North Division Championship team and was team-captain. He is a member of the HCC Hall of Fame as of April 1, 2021.
