Women’s Hoops Ranked 10th in D2SIDA Poll

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - West Alabama women's basketball team is ranked 10th in week five of the Division II Sports Information Directors Association (D2SIDA) South Region media poll. This media poll is in its ninth year of existence.
 
The Tigers are 7-3 overall and 5-2 in GSC play. UWA has defeated Montevallo, Auburn Montgomery, Alabama Huntsville, Shorter, and Mississippi College. The only two losses of the season came from Lee University on Dec. 4 and Delta State on Sunday. 
 
Bria Dent is leading the GSC in scoring and ranks second in rebounds, averaging 19 points per game and 11.5 rebounds per contest. Dent ranks 16th nationally in rebounds per game and 38th in points per game. She has recorded eight double-doubles this season, tying her for third nationally. 
 
Maryanne Logsdon averages 12.1 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game, and three assists per game. Logsdon ranks 13th in the GSC for scoring and sixth in assists. 
 
Williams averages 11.9 points per game, seven assists per game, five rebounds per game, and 2.3 steals per game. Williams leads the GSC in assists and ranks seventh nationally in assists per game. 
 
As a unit, UWA averages 64.9 points per game, ranking the Tigers fifth in the GSC in offense. The Tigers limit their opponent to 60.5 points per game.
 
Three other GSC teams were also on the poll this week. Lee (8-2) is ranked third. Union (5-2) and Valdosta State (6-2) are tied for fifth.

The Tigers host a non-conference matchup against Southeastern Baptist College on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
