Garrett-Hammett Named GSC Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - West Alabama women's basketball forward Tazsa Garrett-Hammett has been named Gulf South Conference Player of the Week based on her performances against Lee University, Delta State, and Mississippi College.

Tazsa Garrett-Hammett is ranked second in the GSC for scoring, averaging 18 points per game. She is also averaging 6.5 rebounds per game, ranking her 12th in the conference.


The LaGrange, Ga. native scored 23 points, brought down four boards, dished out two assists, and had two steals in the matchup against Lee University on February 21. 


Garrett-Hammett matched her season-high of 31 points against Delta State on February 24. She added four rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and one steal.


The senior forward
had 24 points, nine rebounds, two blocks, and two steals in the matchup against Mississippi College on February 26.


Over the past three games last week, Garrett-Hammett averaged 26 points and 5.6 rebounds. 


Garrett-Hammett and the Tigers return to action on Tuesday to take on the No. 2 seed Valdosta State for the first round of the GSC Championship Tournament. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CT at The Complex in Valdosta, Ga.
