GULF SHORES, Ala. - West Alabama softball team closed out the Gulf Coast Invitational with a doubleheader split. The Tigers fell to Lee University 3-2 before taking down Columbus State 3-2 Sunday at the Gulfshores Sportsplex. The Tigers are now 2-2 on the season. 

Game One
The Tigers fell to Lee University 3-2 in a non-conference matchup in game one of the second day of the Gulf Coast Invitational.

UWA started the scoring off in the second inning when Mary Grace Sheffield tripled, scoring Hannah Mynard. 

The Tigers improved the lead to 2-0 in the third inning when Kacy Noland RBI single drove in Kelsie Gilliam. 

The fourth, fifth, and sixth inning were all scoreless innings. Lee University's bats came alive in the seventh inning, when they scored three runs to claim the 3-2 victory over the Tigers. 

Kaeleigh Crutchfield absorbed the loss for the Tigers. She pitched 6.1 innings for UWA. The Clinton, Miss. native gave up three earned runs on seven hits, while striking out three. 

Game Two
UWA defeated Columbus State 3-2 to wrap up the last game of the tournament. 

Columbus State entered the seventh inning holding a 2-1 lead over the Tigers, but UWA rallied to claim the 3-2 win over the Cougars.

Next up for the Tigers is the UAH Charger Chillout. The Tigers take on Young Harris College on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 3 p.m., then battle Lincoln Memorial at 5 p.m.
