Women’s Tennis Closes Exhibition Play in a Loss Against Wyoming

MCCOMB, Miss – The UWA women's tennis team was defeated by Wyoming Sunday afternoon in McComb, Miss. at the FitLife SportsPlex in an exhibition match 6-1.

"This was a great match with battles on a lot of courts that could have gone either way. These tough exhibitions should have us ready to start the regular season this week against two strong Division I opponents," head tennis coach Jeff Beaman said.

The Tigers took the doubles point with Heden Ly and Hardija Vidnere winning their doubles match 6-3. Almudena Sanz and Irawan Deewajee won their match 6-3 to claim the doubles point for the Tigers.

The Cowgirls rallied to sweep the Tigers in singles competition and won the match 6-1.

The match was an exhibition for the Tigers and a regular season match for the Cowgirls.

UWA tennis will open the regular season on Tuesday at Mississippi College. First serve is set for 2:00 PM at the MC Tennis Complex.
